We’ve decided to hold off on resuming classes. Black belts will meet again next Monday (25 May) and decide if we can safely train as a group. We are hoping to hear of an increase in numbers being allowed to gather. So, stay safe as we all continue to look forward to getting back into……

As of July 2018 Seido Dunedin Karate is training in a different room at King Edward Court while a new roof is being put on the building that we normally train in. We are now training in Room 208 on the 2nd floor of the main building, with a reduced number of classes each week and reduced……

Christchurch Camp Poster 2014 Christchurch Camp will be held on 5th, 6th and 7th December. Registrations close on 21st November. There is a new venue this year – Blue Skies in Kaiapoi: more space bigger indoor training areas better sleeping arrangements – tents are no longer needed Hanshi will be running a grading for kyu grades throughout the course……

Pete Mortimer graded to shodan in a solo grading taken by Sei Shihan Michael Higgs of Timaru. The promotion was held in the Dunedin dojo and was well attended by karateka from Christchurch, Timaru, Temuka, Wanaka and Dunedin. Jun Shihan Kelvin Wilson had the great idea to invite Juniors from his Sunday classes to grade alongside what was to have been a small general grading. The grading was held on a Tuesday night and had a great atmosphere with many parents in attendance encouraging their children in their endeavours. Congratulations to all those promoted!……

Thursday sparring class now has an new earlier start time of 7.00pm! Hope to see our two new green belts (Ian and Jackson), and all brown and black belts there for class tonight!

Huge congratulations are due to Senpai Joseph Brosnahan (far right, back row), Senpai Steve Howden (third on right, back row) and Senpai Zoë Jaquiery (centre, back row) of Seido Dunedin for completing their recent promotions in fine style. Jun Shihan Mike Higgs of Timaru dojo took the shodan promotion on Saturday 29 June; alongside Senpai……

Thursday’s 5.30pm class has been moved forward to a 6.00pm start.

To celebrate World Seido Karate Organization’s founder Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura’s 70th birthday, Seido dojo from around the world sent in their birthday greetings. Here they are in an hour long ‘Happy 70th Birthday, Kaicho!’ video clip. Seido Dunedin’s greeting is at the 39.00 minute mark. Johshin Honzan’s greeting at 54.30min is well worth a smile,……

Osu, There is a committee meeting being held this Monday (13th) 5.30pm at the dojo. Black belt class will commence after the meeting. All committee members and black belts are encouraged to attend. There are a couple of agenda items up on the whiteboard and we also need to look at getting a few more committee members……
